We cost effectively eliminate the need to import and burn fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal to meet Irelands renewable energy targets by delivering both Electricity and Heating in one highly efficient process. We deliver numerous benefits to the local economies.
What is Biomass He-CHP?
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) integrates the production of Power (electricity) and Heat into one single highly efficient process.
CHP generates electricity whilst also capturing the steam that runs through the turbine, condensing it as hot water to deliver through a network of pipes to heat towns. This contrasts with conventional ways of generating electricity where the water is cooled and not used to replace oil and gas to heat towns, homes, businesses, industry, local community, swimming pools and public buildings.
How it works
CHP generates electricity whilst also capturing the steam that runs through the turbine, condensing it as hot water to deliver through a network of pipes to heat towns.
Biomass CHP converts the energy in wood to electricity and heat in a highly efficient process, minimising energy losses.
In Fossil Fuel (coal, peat, oil and gas) fired power stations the focus is on electricity production alone. Biomass He-CHP focuses on replacing fossil fuels for both Power and Heating. Having a double positive impact.
What is the objective?
- To reduce Irelands reliance on fossil fuels for both electricity generation and for heating our towns, homes and businesses, in one highly efficient process.
- To pass on the thermal energy savings to consumers with a zero carbon footprint.
